Glutathione is vital for detoxifying the body from heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium and many others. Glutathione, in the reduced form, is the main antioxidant for cells, protecting them from free radicals. It combats many neurological problems and eliminates many carcinogenic factors by optimizing the functions of the immune system. Increased glutathione levels combat the oxidation of fatty acids in the bloodstream, including cholesterol, delaying the process of plaque formation in the arteries.
